Vision

The Community Co-op is designed to gather available resources and distribute them to families and individuals in need.  In the process, our desire is to build relationships that show our neighbors what the Kingdom of God looks like.

We believe that there is an abundance of resources available, it’s just a matter of finding them and getting them to the people who need them most.

We are open to anyone, but we aim to reach those in the community who are “in-between.”  For example, people who may not qualify for state assistance, but are barely making ends meet.  Or families who don’t need help often, but are facing unexpected expenses.  People in this position don’t often have time to wait for an application process, they have needs that need met now.

How you can Help

We are always looking for new and creative ways to find available resources.   This is a great way to meet your neighbors and do your part to help.

New Job Opportunities at the Co-Op:

Aesthetic appeal. Someone to keep clothing racks and layout look good and flow well.   Our traffic flow is only going to get bigger.  This person will also label clothes racks and sizes where they’re divided.  Also put info. and artwork up on walls to decorate a little and communicate to guests.
Advertising.  We need someone to be in charge of flyers, update them as necessary and keep relevant information on the website.  Put them out as needed and find places to let people know about the co-op who can benefit from it.  Post Open Houses on Craig’s List Thur and Fri.
People to help clean up the room or put away products.  This is very necessary, but very difficult to coordinate b.c of conflicting schedules.  If you are interested, notify Leanne and I will help coordinate a schedule for that.
Craigs List: If you often check Craigs List for free items and have the time to pick items up, watch for bags of clothing or free food to bring to the Co-op.

Open House Schedule

3rd Saturday of every month of 2010. Hours are 9am-12pm.

We will re-evaluate the open house schedule for 2011 based on need.

Items to donate:

We are going to pre-package food bags and toiletry bags for the convenience of our guests.  The food and toiletry bags will include the following items:

• cereal
• rice
• pasta and sauce
• vegetables/fruit
• mac and cheese
• PB & Jelly
• beans
• flour
• sugar
• shampoo/conditioner
• body soap
• deodorant
• toothpaste
• diapers
