This Week: 8/1 Gathering at Chatfield Reservoir

This Sunday we head back to Chatfield Reservoir for our park service and baptisms. You can find us at our usual spot on the north end of the lake directly below the Massey Draw parking lot. As usual, bring some good side dishes and drinks, along with your blankets or lawn chairs, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and swim trunks for the kiddo’s (and trunks & shirt for those who are planning on being baptized). 10am-2pm is what we usually plan for. However, you may want to plan on being there around 9:30am or so, to avoid getting stuck in traffic or having to park a couple miles away. We’ll be doing food and baptisms on the earlier end.

To find Massey Draw, enter the park off of Wadsworth (a mile south of C-470). There’s a $7-8 entrance fee, so you may want to carpool if you can. After you enter, you’ll curve around to the main road, turn left. Cruise about a mile or so and you’ll see the Adullam sign and Massey Draw parking lot on the right.

Community Cupboard

This Saturday, July 31st we’ll be opening the Community Cupboard to the public from 9am-12pm. Thanks to all of you who brought in food donations this past week. This will be such a blessing to some folks in the community of Englewood. We could still use a few helping hands to organize items and help with the distribution of goods on Saturday. If you are available and interested in helping, please contact Leanne O’Donnell lodo4417@gmail.com.

Communion

Starting Monday, November 23rd this “communion” space will contain our Advent scripture for the week. As a community we will all be dwelling and praying through this posted scripture throughout the weeks of Advent which officially begins Sunday November 29th.

Your story matters. Adullam’s communities are made up of a captivating mosaic of life stories, each one containing its own unique and deep significance. We believe the collection of these redemptive stories has the power to creatively bless the city of Denver and beyond in a variety of meaningful ways.

Adullam communities are about the transformation of individual lives, local neighborhoods, and ultimately the world. What do we mean by transformation? We believe God exists as the primary protagonist in the unfolding story of creation. Transformation is simply what describes the journey of changing our roles in the story, going from antagonists-driven mostly by personal gain- toward joining a collaborative mission of redemption as God’s fellow protagonists. In doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly together in community we believe that what’s been broken in our lives, our communities…our world, has a chance at redemption.

While we are unashamedly a community of Jesus followers we believe that transformation isn’t about going to church. Actually, in most of our experiences simply “doing church” has often been a major distraction for people, both saint and sojourner, who want to relate to God and live out the Kingdom life. When Jesus spoke of the Kingdom we believe it was an invitation to not only dream of a better world to come, but an invitation to start leaning into and living out of that new world in the here and now. And in a culture filled with individualism, consumerism, and materialism we recognize that this ain’t no small task.
So, what if your story takes on a bigger role in this redemption narrative than you realize? What if a people peculiar enough to live in inclusive community can dynamically counteract the forces of individualism? What if we gave away our time and money to the broken and poor of our city rather than going with the consumeristic flow of spending it on ourselves? What if listening to God’s voice together so that we can partner with rather than work against took priority over our own self-centered ambitions?
We are a network of communities tied together by the “What If?” And if you think these are tensions worth engaging in, you’re more than welcome to travel with us…
